Lest you think this is some front for a bunch of guys who just don't want to shave, our Ethics Committee has come up with Mustache Growing Rules.
1. Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007 is Clean Shaven Day. Participants will shave their faces clean of any and all facial hair. This includes, but is not limited to, Mustaches, beards, goatees, muttonchops, chinstraps, John Waters pencil thins, soul patches, sideburns that extend below the top of the earlobe, and Van Dykes.
2. Mustaches for Kids observes a strict 'corner to corner' policy. No goatees, fu-mans, soul patches, stingers, muttonchops, van dykes, or sideburns that extend below the top of the earlobe. 'Staches are limited to the 'corner to corner' style preferred by motorcycle cops and little league coaches the world over.
3. For the duration of one month (4 weeks) sweet Mustaches will be grown for the world to behold. During that time, there will be weekly Mustache Measurement Events. All involved will shave their mugs on Measurement days, save for the area above their upper lips. No fair growing a full beard or goatee for a month, and then shaving down to just the Mustache. The Mustache must only stretch from one corner of your mouth to the other corner.
4. No Hitler Mustaches are allowed.
5. No John Waters Mustaches are allowed.
6. The use of performance enhancing growth hormones or coloring agents is not condoned or sanctioned by Mustaches for Kids.
7. While Mustaches for Kids does not endorse trash-talking or making disparaging comments of any kind about another Grower's ‘Stache, there are unsubstantiated medical theories that Mustache Abuse stimulates follicle growth.
8. The minimum Pledge Goal for each Grower is $50 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. However, in no way should anyone be discouraged from participating just because he doesn't think he can make the Pledge Goal. Of course Growers are also discouraged from lounging on a $50 bed of laurels. Suck it up, man...you're better than that. Please be aware of and obey all local laws when soliciting donations.
9. Though the Mustache Checkpoints are not mandatory - Mustaches for Kids believes in the Honor System - they are a great opportunity to encourage your Mustache brothers-in-arms during the growing season. Mustaches for Kids representatives will be available at all Checkpoints to address any Mustache questions or concerns. And we will drink beer, and on a school night, no less.
10. On April 30th, 2007 the 'Stache Bash Finale will be held at a location to be determined. There, a blue-ribbon panel of judges will select the winners of the Sweet 'Stache Competition using a complicated, and very scientific, set of criteria. Prizes will be awarded, tears will be shed, and wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, and significant others will be thankful that this is over.
11. Good luck and good growing.
